In Europe, millions of people are obliged to participate in occupational dosimetry surveillance. For most of them the annual collective doses are low, but for dedicated groups or individuals, the surveillance and following interventions on protective measures, make a real difference.

In this first part of the Webinar / Masterclass pair we will start dealing with fundamental concepts of personal dosimetry surveillance. Why do we care about exposures to the staff, and what are risks from occupational exposure compared to everyday risks? From this on, relevant protective and measurement quantities are presented in the webinar, as well as dosimeter types in use. Working principles and pros and cons of different types are explained.

At the end of the webinar we will have a closer look at clinical exposure situations, where staff typically faces doses below 1 mSv per year. Different options to treat personnel at these workplaces, and get most for the effort paid, will be presented and discussed.
