 ficado con la moratoria que introdujo el PEN-1983 que reducía a 10 las centrales nucleares que operarían en España, suspendía el CINSO, y termi- naría la explotación de la Fábrica de Uranio de Andújar y la Planta Lobo-G (La Haba, Badajoz). No obstante, el parque de centrales nucleares vivió su etapa de mayor crecimiento en los años 80 con la entrada en servicio de las centrales de Amaraz I (1983), Alma- raz II (1984), Cofrentes (1984), Ascó I (1984), Ascó II (1986), Trillo (1988) y Vandellós II (1988) con una potencia instalada de 7000 Mwe aproxima- damente. El RD de ordenación de las activida- des del ciclo del combustible nuclear consolidó el papel de Enusa, cuya división de combustible estaba ple- namente operativa y contaba con un intenso programa internacional con participaciones en Eurodif y Cominak, colaboraciones con los principales fabricantes de combustible nuclear del mundo y clientes en varios países. Participando en todas estas activi- dades (Figura 4), el sector de la pro- tección radiológica en España había alcanzado un nivel de desarrollo y se encontraba en unas circunstancias propicias para la creación de una sociedad que diera a sus miembros la oportunidad de intercambiar conoci- ANTECEDENTES mientos y experiencias para abordar y resolver múltiples situaciones y pro- blemas que les eran comunes. EPÍLOGO A lo largo del recorrido histórico que media entre los descubrimientos de finales del siglo XIX y a lo largo de todo el siglo XX, se sucedieron unos acontecimientos científicos que abrie- ron al mundo el conocimiento de la energía nuclear y la física de las radia- ciones. Estos hechos abrieron el paso a múltiples y variadas aplicaciones, llenos de sus luces y sombras, que no habrían sido posibles sin las medi- das de protección radiológica que se desarrollaron en paralelo, gracias al trabajo, a menudo heroico, de una saga de investigadores y profesionales que, desde sus comienzos, sintieron la necesidad de asociarse para com- partir conocimientos y experiencias, con el afán de hacer nuestro mundo cada día mejor.
